Buyer/Planner – Launch Vehicle
The Buyer/Planner plays an integral role in leading the development, execution, and continuous improvement of key procurement and planning responsibilities that enable the strategic vision underlying developing a world-class supply base to support SpaceX’s mission of making life multiplanetary. A team player who has exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a passion for working across disciplines to solve highly analytical issues and leading continuous improvements is key. The Buyer/Planner will possess an insatiable hunger for learning and an ability to deep dive into issues, take a step back to recognize the interworking of the big picture, and propose a compelling business case that details a clear, actionable path forward and can be leveraged across commodity teams and disciplines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support flight and non-flight purchase requirement as needed
Request quotes from suppliers and have the ability to comprehend detailed RFQ’s
Track promise dates from suppliers and ensure their dates will meet our production need dates
Issue purchase orders and revisions in a timely manner
Follow-up with suppliers to obtain acknowledgement of purchase orders, ensure supplier delivery to meet SpaceX needs
Proactively provide updates to SpaceX management and internal customers on all critical supply issues
Coordinate the on-time conversion of MRP messages into work orders
Create a Line of Balance and accurate summaries of part requirements for each assembly
Monitor design releases & advance material requests
Override Warp Drive planning message dates to meet Master production schedule
Mitigate shortages and fulfillment dates
Attend and support weekly shortage meetings
Collaborate with other production departments and suppliers to identify and resolve bottlenecks
Support and coordinate engineering changes on engineering masters and open work orders
Validate drawing revisions in Teamcenter to support build configuration
Learn about their entire designated assembly and maintenance process
Validate MRP allocations
Work daily with Hawthorne and Cape Planners
Identify any EIS improvements needed to enable rapid campaigns
Conducts all activities with the highest integrity
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, supply chain, or similar technical discipline
1+ years of technical procurement or planning experience
PREFERRED SKILLS:
Experience analyzing data and developing reports in Microsoft Excel
Process improvement or Program management experience within a supply chain, production, or manufacturing environment
Strong technical understanding of MRP system
3+ years of technical procurement or planning experience
Previous work in the Aerospace field
Exposure within a machining commodity, specifically within CNC / Lathe
Exposure to Microsoft SQL Server and Tableau Software
Exposure to ERP systems
Lean Six Sigma green or black belt certification
Highly-collaborative team player with impeccable attention to detail and strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills with a bias for speed without sacrificing quality
1+ years of technical procurement experience
1+ years of program managing
Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships across disciplines
Ability to work independently or collaboratively while managing multiple critical priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, loosely-structured environment
