Warehouse Operations Manager

What you will be doing:
Ensures the shipments and receipts of all domestic and international orders are within legal DOT requirements and that all shipments are palletized and packaged in a secure and safe manner.
Place a high degree of emphasis on safety: Ensures safe work habits are developed in subordinates and worker-friendly environment is maintained at all times.
Exemplify high quality standards: decreases (and eventually eliminates) waste due to errors; creativity and employee involvement are solicited and encouraged; subordinates adhere to the concept of constant improvement in the quality of their process
Ensure department schedules and product shipments occur in a timely manner, to meet customer expectations and company goals. Assists in or outright prepares necessary documentation for international shipments.
Effectively communicates with carriers and customers where necessary
Ensure company assets are protected, with a high degree of focus on inventory accuracy, location accuracy and location utilization
Assign items to designated storage areas and maintains locations in a safe, secure and effective manor for future retrieval. Monitors and continually improves product and workflows.
Ensures production back orders are fulfilled in a timely manner
Assist in converting the units strategic plan items as they apply to shipping, receiving and warehousing into goals and objectives for accomplishment; makes operational input key stakeholders
Effectively coordinates with key stakeholders for proper management of returned, inspect, or defective materials
Focuses on product integrity and customer satisfaction as ongoing goals: shipments to domestic and international customers are accomplished accurately and on-time; required documentation regarding domestic and international shipping laws is current and accurate.
Provides leadership and daily guidance to a group of 5-6 shift supervisors: sets expectations for each warehouse operations area, monitors Key Performance Indicators and issues performance-based feedback.
Owns the warehouse management operating system, which includes: daily shift startup meetings, a cross-training program, 5S program, process audits, leader standard work, and daily “passdown” communications.
What you need to be successful:
5 -7 years supervisory experience in shipping and warehousing experience in manufacturing setting
Warehouse layout and space utilization experience, shipping and warehousing of bulk and piece parts, export freight experience, a knowledge of DOT shipping requirements and regulations experience
Well versed in the use of personal computers and familiar with database and spreadsheet apps
Computer literacy, including networking skills, MS Windows and Office, bar coding and MRP/ERP experience
Experience in computerized UPS and LTL tracking software and other related shipping and warehousing software
Natural ability to lead, delegate, instruct, counsel, coordinate, and correct. Well-developed oral and written communication abilities; strong listening and negotiation and good organization and planning skills

Rail Manufacturing experience
Experience working in a manufacturing environment of Safety, Quality, On Time Delivery and Cost where everyone is valued and is encouraged to contribute to improve products, process and the business.
