Job Description

HII- Technical Solutions Division (TSD) delivers professional services to a wide variety of government and commercial customers worldwide to include critical services to our DOD and DOE.

HII - Technical Solutions Division is currently seeking a Nuclear Engineer for our HII Nuclear, Maritime Operations Team at our Newport News, VA location.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Designs, develops, and tests nuclear equipment and systems. Conducts research on new materials of special interest in nuclear reactors. Conducts studies related to the detection and control of radiation and radioactive contaminants. Studies nuclear fuel cycle to define most economical uses of material and safest means of waste products disposal. Other areas of research include radiation transport modeling, statistical analyses and performance metrics. Recommends various technology options or approaches for system, processes, facility or program improvements in terms of safety, performance, efficiency or costs.

Minimum Qualifications

2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.

Candidate must have experience with nuclear reactor or steam plant operations.Candidate must have knowledge of nuclear and radiation safety principles.The selected canidate will be requried to obtain and maintain a confidential level security clearance.

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
